Dream Big

Dream Big and that it just what the Burley Stake did. The first annual community party was a big hit. It was a big carnival. There was kettle corn, bottle rockets, human foosball, ice cream, and a lot more. The primary, Young Men, Young Women and Adults all presented a program with song and dance. Con and I cooked hamburgers for 750 people on Wednesday and 800 on Thursday. We had a lot of good people to help us. I think it was a big success.
Con tasting the liquid nitrogen ice cream. YUMMY
Val and Bill Atkins discussing the next step to this process.

My Little Dancer

I'm a little behind with blogging this last month. The weekend that Tanner was baptized and Will blessed, Taygan had a dance recital. She is a good little dancer and that smile is to die for (Dad keep the shotgun handy). I am so happy that we can be a part of some of the things that Taygan is involved in. Love you Taygan XOXOXOX

Fair Time

Grandpa Con said he would walk home from 4-H meeting. It was laughter all the way.

This is Taygan's lamb.
Conner and Taygan are going to take sheep to the fair again this year. We were in Logan the weekend that they picked them out. Conner jumped right in and got just the one he wanted. Gage was right there to assist in anyway he could.

It's amazing what one year of experience does.

Now, Taygan on the other hand needed some help getting the right one. This is her first year and so she was a little shy at the process, but she had some good helpers. Her name was drawn out of the hat first to choose.
Grandpa tried to get her to pick out one of the little goats. She told Gramps that they were not sheep!

It's Great to be 8

All of our family was able to make it to Tanner's baptism. Tanner is in the center of the picture. He has a tan suit and orange tie on. He might be tiny but he is mighty.
All 20 of us and all because two people fell in love!
Way to go Tanner man!

Max Turns 5

Our Max turned five on the 3rd of June. He is one big baseball, basketball, soccer and football boy. He has loved from almost birth anything to do with a ball.
He loves ice cream, so we brought an ice cream cake and as you can see he is enjoying it to the max.

Is this for me?
The wind was blow and it has hard to keep the candles going but he did a great job of blowing after his dad would light one.
Max ordered Uncle Justin's famous wings and legs. I have to say that they were finger lick'n good.

Memorial Day Road Trip 2011

It was a good day to be in the Park. We saw a lot of buffalo, geese, elk and people.

One black bear
Water running very, very fast
Another black bear
We were looking a mommy brown bear and her two cubs. My camera doesn't take good pictures far away. The little family was about 75 yards from the truck. If you got in the truck you could see them better so we had two or three families pile in with us.
We had a snowball fight at one of our stops. These girls are our friends granddaughters. They got Papa really good.

There is still a lot of snow up high. It didn't get any warmer than 40 degrees.
The ever famous Old Faithful doing its thing.
We sat in the lodge to watch the geyser go off.
This little one was just hours old.

Spicy Honey-Garlic Wings

On a rainy day in May, we tried a new recipe in the Traeger grill.
And yep they were finger lickin' good.
Spicy Honey-Garlic Wings
2 1/2 pounds large chicken wings (I used some legs)
Traeger Pork and Poultry Shake or your favorite barbecue rub
4T butter
3 cloves garlic
1/2 cup Frank's Red Hot sauce
1/4 cup honey, or more to taste
1-1/2 cups blue cheese or ranch dressing.

1. Cut the wings into three pieces through the joints. Discard the wing tips. Transfer the remaining "drumettes" and "flats"to a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or nonstick aluminum foil, and arrange them in a single layer. Season well with the Traeger Pork and Poultry Shake.
2. Make the spicy honey-garlic sauce. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Add the garlic and saute or 2 to 3 minutes until it softens (do not let it color). Stir in the hot sauce and honey and cook for several minutes to blend the flavors. Keep warm.
3. When read to cook, preheat oven or grill to 350 degrees.
4. Put the baking sheets with the wings into the over or on the grill grate. Cook for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the chicken is no longer pink at the bone. Pour enough spicy honey-garlic sauce over the wings to coat them on both sides, turning with tongs. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes more to set the sauce. Serve with the blue cheese or ranch dressing. ENJOY!

Fire Station 2011

Today was a field trip with the Kindergarten kids at Dworshak. We had a picnic at Storybook Park and then we were off to the Fire Station.
One very brave kindergarten teacher kinda volunteered to be the target.
Where is she?
About half way through it started to rain and we were all soaked by the time we got all the kids back on th bus. The kids were so good and they really enjoyed shooting the target with the foam gun.

Jr. Miss 2011

I was a hostess mom again this year for the Distinguished Young Woman Scholarship Program (aka Jr. Miss). This year had extra meaning for me. I change this young ladies diaper. Yes, I am getting old. She was a joy to work with.
Me, Steph and Jenny at the dinner after the interviews.
We had a lot of great people donate to the program and we won the most tickets sold and the first donations turned in. Thanks to all who make this program such a success.
She made it in the top 10 and won a pot load of money in scholarships.
Last minute run through of questions for the final night. Stephanie won an interview scholarship, fitness scholarship and self-expression scholarship.

Mother's Day

This little man joined us for dinner. He is quite the eater.
Kona and Jared invited us over for Sunday dinner. She is a very good cook. We had Mexican haystacks, raspberry salad, fruit salsa and a yummy dessert, Mississippi Mud with ice cream. It was so nice to just enjoy dinner. Thanks, Kona and Jared. Love you!

Happy Mother's Day to Chalet, Mindy and Heather. Hope your day was great with your family.

THE SHOW WAS AWESOME! George really does look good in his wranglers. Reba is a true entertainer. I love her smile.
LeeAnn opened the show and sang a duet with Reba.
Con gave me the tickets for Valentines Day. We started the evening off by eating at PF Chang's. YUMMY. We had seats on the floor, center stage, row 13. The couples that sat behind us were so happpppy to be there. One to any drinks, but they were pretty funny. Should have gotten a picture. A picture can speak a thousand words. When we came out of the Energy Solutions Center it was pouring rain and guess where my umbrellas were, IN THE CAR. By the time we got to the car we were soaked. It was a very fun evening. Thanks, hun
