Snow Day

PHONE RING 6:00 A.M. No school. Yeppee! I will take advantage of not having to go to school. Work on some Christmas sewing, clean the house, have nap and listen to the wind blowing at a 100 miles an hour. Big storm coming in this afternoon, like 5-8 inches and the wind. Probably won't have to get up for school tomorrow. Enjoy your day!

Back to Work

I started a new job on Monday. I am at Dworshak as an aide in the all day kindergarten. I am just working a half day and I think it is going to be fun. All I have to know is my colors, the alphabet, numbers and how to watch kids eat their lunch. I have lunch duty, something that I have never done before. Wish me luck. Tomorow is my first lunch duty.

We had a great lesson today at church on the Gift of the Holy Ghost. One thing I took from it was to slow down and let our minds listen. Our lives our so busy and noisy that we sometimes forget to slow down and be in a quiet place to listen. Turn off the ear phones, the iPods, TV and computer and listen to that wonerful gift that was given to each of us at our baptism.

Thought of the Day

An idle mind is the devil's wokshop.
And the devil's name is Alzheimers. So keep that mind active. Read, garden, scrapbook, crochet, piece a quilt- just do anything that will keep your mind moving. Oh, go to the mall, that is going to be at the top of my list.

Old Friends

I just love this gal. We were very good friends in high school. We are in Stepperettes for all three year. Jan and her mom came to the DQ for lunch and I was so surprised. We talk non stop for 2 hours. We remembered the fun times that we had as we grew up in Burley. We will keep in touch this time for sure. She lives just a couple of blocks from my son in Meridian. Another thing to be thankful for FRIENDS.

I can't believe that these are still blooming
I raked leaves yesterday and it looks like I will be raking more today.

Nov 4th Wow, have you noticed the beautiful colors this fall. They are so bright. I am thankful for the gift of sight. Have you ever thought what your life would be like without the gift of sight? Cracker I am learning to use my camera. Thanks, family for my Canon Power Shot.

Count Down to Thanksgiving

Nov 3rd. I am thankful that I live in a free country and I had the opportunity to vote yesterday. I am thankful for all of the soliders that are protecting the United States of America and for their family that are giving so much on our behalf. Bless and protect them.

Birthday Boy

Yesterday I felt really, really, really old. Jason turned 36 years old. We spent the day in Meridian with his family. Lunch at El Tampa, shopping at Sportsman's and then a fun afternoon at WahZoo, a family fun center. Lazer tag and go-carts were the favorites. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing that little boy home. How time flyies. I still don't have a working camera. (Maybe for my birthday) Happy Birthday Jason. We Love You!

Celebrate the Fall

Grandma Vicki had her celebrate FALL party. Pumpkin Patch first. The weather was beautiful. Grandpa Con and Jason went goose hunting, Jared was in the tractor and so they missed the pumpkin patch. :( Time for a family photo.

Jaycie first pumpkin patch experience. She really didn't care one way or any other, but just wait for next year.

Austin, Dylan and Hailey protecting their finds

We finished up the day with a soup bar and of course the carving for the pumpkins. More picture to come later. I love this time of year and I am so thankful that we live in this beautiful valley and enjoy the many blessings that we have.

Diaper Bag

FALL is offically here and boy is it ever beautiful. That means that I a going to get a lot of sewing, quilting, stitching and scraping done. I took a class at The Gathering Place. I made a diaper bag, not that I need a diaper bag, but it will make a great church bag or stitching bag. Actually, I made it for Chalet. And if I hadn't lost my camera card;( you could see what it looks like. Kona and I are going to make ours, hope by then I will have found the card or maybe I'll just get a new one. Anyway remember LIFE IS YUMMY!

FIRE in the Cans

We had a little bit of excitement on Sunday at the reunion. I am sitting where I could see the garbage cans and I notice that there is some smoke coming from behind the cans. I thought that maybe someone was grilling , but when flames started coming out of the cans I say to Cody (who is a volunteer fireman in Logan), I think we have a problem. He grabbed the fire extingusher from the trailer. So Con and Cody ran to put it out, but it needed a little bit more stuff on it, so Con called 911 and reported the problem. Didn't get a picture of the fire truck.
We think that someone put hot briquettes into the cans. STUPID!

The grandkids and Aunt Kona watching Cody and Grandpa in action with the fire.

Haycock Reunion 2010

Labor Day brought on the Haycock Reunion at Cherry Hills in Kaysville, Ut. We had fun in the sun, Minute To Win It Games (except the wind came up and we couldn't finish, because we had to tie down tents and campers), ate a whole bunch of yummy food, crafts and lots of memories.

How's that working for you, Mindy?

Fall is on the Way

Last weekend we went huckleberry hunting. First time! It was raining and blowing like crazy but we just kept picking. We got about 2 quarts of berries. I made freezer jam and got 7 pints.

Grandpa Con picking. We were soaking wet by the time we fnished.
This little guy was putting peanuts away for the winter. He would come up pretty close to us to get the peanuts.

There is a mommy moose and her twin cubs on the Island and every once in a while we get to see them up close. They like to hang out by our cabin. This is the mommy and the twins are not to far away.

Taygan finishing off a yummy ear of corn

Jaycie got plenty of attention from Conner and Taygan.

Fair Time Birthdays

Well one more fair week is history. We now have three B-days during fair week so to celebrate we do it on Sunday. Kona turned 28, Jared, 31 and Grandpa Con, 56. Grandpa Con cooked Tri Tip, pork ribs, corn on the cob and potatoes on his new Traeger Smoker. And of course a DQ ice cream cake. They all blew out the candles as the kids looked on. Happpppy, Happy Birthday to you all!:)

Pee Wee Showmanship

Taygan and Conner's sheep with a little encouragment from dad.

The Cashe County Fair has a Pee Wee division in the sheep program. Taygan was a little hesitate to show but a new pair of cowgirl boots did the trick. Everyone was a winner. They all received $3.00 and bottle of Gaterade.

There was 105 Pee Wee. The judge had them say their name and the name of their lamb and 45 minutes later we were on to the real show.
Way to go Tanner and Max

A New Business Adventure

So, Con got this wild hair, like he does sometimes, to buy this Traeger Smoker. We did some duch oven potatoes for the Boy Scout 100 year celebration this last week. A company from Jerome was there to cook the meat and Con really liked their Traeger Smoker. So, he got on KSL and low and behold there was one for sale. Lucky us! It is only two years old and has hardly been used. We jumped in the truck after the lamb show and headed for SLC to just look at it and the rest is history. So if any one has a need for some dang good grub, just give us a call and we will see what we can do. Retirement what's that!

Oh the Memories

Cody and Conner's lamb getting ready for the show. I think that he also had a walk down memory lane. It's good for him to see what we went thru that week of fair. Just wait Cody till you have 4 lambs to get ready. Good Luck!

Fair Time

Well it's fair time again and the feel of fall is in the air, at least in Cache County. It was a walk down memory lane for Con and I. Cody's oldest, Conner, is following in the Haycock tradition of showing a lamb. It was his first year in 4-H. He had a beautiful blue ( we call the black in the old days), anyway, he was a good one. Weighing in at 104. This judge really liked this lamb and kept coming back to Conner, feeling and poking and always watching Conner. I think he was checking the size of lamb to the size of kid. The tall kid right next to Conner in this picture won the class with the boy with the other "blue" lamb in second and Conner in third.

He was beaming for ear to ear at the final three.

Conner with his winnings. Isn't he the cutest cowboy you have ever seen.

Grandpa Con explaining what all the poking and measuring is for to some of Conner friends.

So while we were all in Logan for Dylan's baptism, we had a own personal photographer take some pictures of all 19 of us. Cody and Chalet are messin around with the idea of this photography thing. So who better to practice on but your family. He took some of the girls, the boys, grandkids with grandpa Con and grandma Vicki. All in all they turned out pretty good.
